ABOUT CLARA
Clara Bijl is an internationally unknown stand-up comedian and writer. For over 30 years she's made French and English-speaking audiences laugh on stages across the US, France, Switzerland, and the UK.
She grew up in the French Alps, learned English from rap songs, and went to college in South Carolina, as one does when coming from France. She's done two runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, released two comedy albums, and written for a hit Swiss comedy TV show. Yes, they have comedy in Switzerland.
After years of writing scripts and pitching pilots, she decided to stop waiting and make something herself. The Come Up is her feature directorial debut. More on that movie below.

A regular at the SF Punch Line, Cobb's Comedy Club, she’s performed at wineries, Social Clubs, one memorial. She’s performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (twice), the Avignon Off Festival (twice), the Montreux Comedy Festival…
Her material comes straight from real life: the marriage, the kids, the French cats in America. She does it all just for the comedy.
She was once stranded on an escalator for hours.

The Come Up follows a good-natured woman who loses her future kid's adoption papers to a drug dealer and must team up with her selfish neighbor, quirky college friend, and eclectic landlady to get them back.
The Come Up is Clara's feature directorial debut.
