About
Clara Bijl is a French-American stand-up comedian and writer based in San Francisco, with over 30 years performing across the US and Europe.
Born in Paris and raised in the Alps, Clara moved to America at 18 — attending college in South Carolina, as one does when coming from France. She relocated to New York City to begin her stand-up career, then to Los Angeles, and eventually settled in the Bay Area. She performs in both English and French.
Sharp, observational, and internationally flavored, Clara's comedy draws from immigration, motherhood, marriage, Bay Area life, and the endurance sport of being a working comedian for three decades. She has headlined clubs and festivals across the US and Europe, hosted corporate events, fundraisers, and award shows, and written for television.
"An engaging and confident presence."
— FringeReviewClara was a semifinalist in Comedy Central's Laugh Riots competition, has appeared on SiriusXM Radio and SF Punchline, performed at SF Sketchfest and the Montreux Comedy Festival, completed two runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and wrote for the Swiss TV show Le Petit Silvant Illustré. She recently completed production on The Come Up, a feature fiction film she wrote — with a director, two producers, and fiscal sponsorship attached.

The Come Up
Written by Clara Bijl · In Production
While John makes his way back home from Alaska, Aubrey decides to go out on the town to celebrate her life-changing news. Joined by her attention-seeking friend Lizzy, her landlady Bethel, and her new bougie neighbor Meredith, the evening takes a turn — and Aubrey realizes she has lost the adoption papers. What follows is chaos, mobsters, drag queens, nomads, and an unlikely solution. A comedy about women's friendships, connections, and relationships.
